Preckwinkle at Barrington Hills polo match

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle will throw out the first ball at the eighth annual LeCompte Kalaway Landowners Cup polo match at Oakwood Farms in Barrington Hills on Saturday, Sept. 8.

Each year the Barrington Hills Polo Clubs and Riding Club of Barrington Hills co-host the event to honor the private homeowners of the village who allow riding trails across their property. These private trails link up with riding trails on Cook County Forest Preserve land to form a network of nearly 200 miles of bridle trails.

Gates open at 11 a.m. at 362 Bateman Road. A “Battle of the Sexes” match will start at 12:30 p.m. followed by the main match at about 2:30 p.m.

Admission costs $15 per person, but $100 tailgating reservations can be made by calling (847) 702-0475. Each tailgate reservation includes admission for six people and a place on the field to set up for a picnic.
