Postcard from Tampa: Landed safely

Hey, everyone!

Made it to Tampa only slightly the worse for wear. Illinois Senate Republican Leader Christine Radogno, of Lemont, and I happened to be on the same flight from Chicago O’Hare and tried to chat calmly about our weekends — her’s at a baby shower and mine at a wedding — as our pilot instructed the flight attendents to sit down and buckle in while he tried three landing attempts before setting down safely in Tampa.

Here at our Clearwater Beach hotel, tropical storm Isaac is bringing rain and wind, but nothing too treacherous.

Illinois GOP Chair Pat Brady, of St. Charles, joked he could “ride his bike” in this weather. I haven’t tried to run in it just yet!

Off to get my credentials now. I’ll write again soon.
