High school football season kicks off tonight

The two-a-days are over, the helmets are all shined up, the cheerleaders, poms and marching bands are ready to perform and the pork chops and brats are ready for the grill.

After two-plus weeks of preparation, high school football teams will kick off the season tonight all around Illinois. In the Daily Herald area, nearly 80 high school football teams will take the field for the first time in 2012 this weekend.
