Sign up for sheriff’s citizen police academy

The Lake County sheriff’s office is hosting its citizen police academy beginning in September. The 10-week program features classes running approximately three hours each. Instruction is provided by sworn deputies and civilians in their field of expertise and is designed to provide a hands-on experience. The academy is free to county residents. Participants must be 21 or older, be of good moral character, and have no felony convictions. Applications are available at the sheriff’s administration office, 25 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., Waukegan, or at www.lakecountyil.gov/sheriff. Applications are due by Sept. 7. For information, contact Lt. Gregory at (847) 377-4000.
