Dog rescue group benefits from Summer Fling
Des Plaines Mayor Martin J. Moylan, Richard Zemola and Hank Zemola of Special Events Management, the event production company that coordinated the Des Plaines Summer Fling, recently gathered at Des Plaines city hall to present a special $3,000 check to Jacqueline Dornback, Chicago English Bulldog Rescue.
The check, which was presented by Special Events Management CEOs to the rescue group, represented beer tent contributions and tips from Friday and Saturday night during the Des Plaines Summer Fling weekend. Held downtown Des Plaines along Ellinwood Street from July 12-15, the Summer Fling featured carnival rides, entertainment, food, and the Chamber of Commerce & Industry Business Expo. This is the second year that Special Events Management coordinated the Des Plaines Summer Fling.
Committed to donating a portion of Summer Fling proceeds to a nonprofit agency, Special Events Management selected Chicago English Bulldog Rescue.
The rescue group has been helping pure-bred “bullies” and their families for five years as a licensed Illinois shelter and a 501c3 charitable organization. Serving and rescuing bulldogs throughout Illinois, Northwest Indiana, and Southeast Wisconsin, the group has 100 volunteers and has found homes for over 500 bulldogs. It has also provided support, encouragement and training consultations to hundreds of families.

Moylan and his brother Mickey organized volunteers to work the beer tent on Saturday night of the Des Plaines Summer Fling and Maine Township Highway Commissioner Robert Provenzano and volunteers worked the tent on Friday.
“We are proud to witness this generous contribution to a very worthwhile cause. Chicago English Bulldog Rescue does fine work for our ‘best friends’ and serves a large region and, thanks to Special Events Management’s contribution, they can continue to do so,” Martin Moylan said.
