Elk Grove pavilion parking lot under construction
What’s going on at the corner of Wellington Ave. and Biesterfield Road?
The pavilion parking lot project has entered into the second phase of construction. The first phase was completed in April and May. Now, the main lot, main entrance and pond area are currently closed for construction, with completion scheduled for late October.
The main parking lot includes the Pavilion entry way which will have a more updated and functional layout and design. When the project is completed, the entire parking lot will have an additional 44 parking spaces with handicapped spaces located in closer to the front entrance.
During construction, the Pavilion Recreation Center is fully accessible through the south lot and there is additional parking and entry available on Leicester Road.
In 2011 the park board rejected the initial bid amounts that were received for the construction. In doing so the park board, staff and architects worked together on the plans that eventually saved the taxpayers $400,000.
The pavilion is located at 1000 Wellington Ave. in Elk Grove Village. This state-of-the art recreational facility was opened to the public in September of 1994. Over the past 18 years, the Jack A. Claes Pavilion Recreation Center has become a most important and vital recreation location to the Elk Grove Village community.
