‘Concert for a Cure’ hits the stage in Geneva

The Paul Ruby Foundation will hold its sixth annual “Concert for a Cure” on Saturday, Aug. 25, at Tanna Farms, 39W804 Hughes Road in Geneva.

This all-day music event is one of the largest music festivals in the Fox Valley and features some of the region’s best bands.

Once again, the concert will have two stages and will be a daylong, family-friendly music event with proceeds benefiting Parkinson’s disease research at Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder’s Center.

Not only will there be some of the area’s best musicians, but there will also be a live and silent auction, with items up for bid ranging from tickets to Chicago sporting events to vacations in Napa Valley. The kid’s area also will be there again this year, featuring face painting and other fun activities for kids to participate in. Scott Makay of 95.9 FM The River will act as emcee for the concert.

This year, vendors from Graham’s Chocolates, Ace Hardware as well as Galena Garlic will also be present. The Knights of Columbus are also bringing their famous corn roasting machine, made famous at Geneva’s annual Swedish Days. Fox Valley Physical Therapy will also be providing evaluations at this year’s concert.

In the past five years, the Paul Ruby Foundation has raised more than $400,000 to support Parkinson’s disease research. “The support of the community for the concert is amazing and the impact is truly making a difference in our quest to find a cure.”

The lineup includes: Miles Nielsen and the Rusted Hearts; Andrea Dawn; Chanson Du Chat; Dave Ramont, Dave Nelson and Friends; Fargo; Funktional Family; Gallery; HOSS; Jeremy Keen; Kevin Trudo + Meathawk; Noah Gabriel; and West End Blues.
