Submitted by St. Mary of Huntley Knights of Columbus Council 11666
The St. Mary of Huntley Knights of Columbus Council 11666 recently received the first place Illinois State Council Public Relations Award for the second year in a row.
For this award, points are earned for various public relations activities that inform the community about the programs the local Knights of Columbus pursue to support their principles of “Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.”
The Council Public Relations Award is part of the “Spirit of Illinois Honors” program. The “Spirit of Illinois Honors” is designed as a tool for councils to “be all that they can be” in the area of programming.
This award is made to the council to recognize the outstanding efforts in publicizing their programs while also promoting fun for the members of the councils.
The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic family fraternal service organization with nearly 1.8 million members in more than 14,000 local councils.
Last year, Knights donated 72 million volunteer hours and $151 million in charitable and benevolent causes, sponsoring projects to benefit their church, councils, communities, families and youth.
