No injuries in N. Aurora apartment fire

Residents of a North Aurora apartment where a fire started Friday afternoon made it out safely after unsuccessfully trying to extinguish the blaze themselves, authorities said.

The fire began just after 3 p.m. in a second-floor bedroom at an apartment complex on the 200 block of Linn Court, according to Capt. Mike Klemencic of the North Aurora Fire Protection District.

“When we got there, there was smoke and fire coming out of multiple windows on the second floor. Our guys made an aggressive interior attack and put out the fire,” Klemencic said.

The residents of the apartment escaped on their own, and no injuries were reported.

The fire was contained to the unit where the fire began, and only minor smoke damage was evident in the neighboring second-floor unit.

A cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known, though fire officials continued to investigate, officials said.
