Palatine Children's Chorus names new artistic director

Palatine Children's Chorus (PCC) is Palatine Park District's youth chorus for children ages 4 to 18. The chorus is comprised of 125 children from across the Northwest Suburbs and features age appropriate music instruction including the safe nurturing of young voices and the introduction to a wide variety of music.

After the resignation of Sue Falbo, PCC Artistic Director for the past 17 years, a new voice with a long history with PCC will be leading the chorus into its 26th season. Rachel Rosellini has been named the new Director for PCC following Ms. Falbo's final concert performance at the Fred P. Hall Amphitheater on July 25th. Ms. Rosellini was a young singer with PCC through her high school years and followed this experience with a major in music education. She received her BA in Music Education from Illinois Wesleyan University and her MA in Music Education from Capital University with an emphasis in Kodaly. She has been the general music teacher for Grove Avenue and Roslyn Road schools in the Barrington school district, teaching music to first through fifth graders and leading a choir in each building. She has been the director of PCC's Do-Re-Mi and Treble choirs for the past two years.

Palatine Children's Chorus is open to all children who love to sing and the fall season will take place from September 5 through December 8. Welcome Nights are scheduled several times each year to allow staff members to place children into appropriate groups, and to allow parents to learn more about PCC's vision for young singers. Fall welcome nights will be held on Thursday, August 30 and Tuesday, September 4 between 4:30pm and 6:30pm. Individual fifteen minute appointments can be scheduled by calling Carol Lange, Palatine Park District's Cultural Arts Coordinator, at 847-496-6237. Additional information about the chorus can be found at www.thepcc.org and registration information including dates and fees can be found at www.palatineparks.org.

The mission of Palatine Park District is to provide a variety of safe, enjoyable and affordable parks and recreation facilities and activities that will enhance the quality of life by promoting good health and well-being for all residents and visitors of the Palatine Park District.
