Batavia MainStreet to host annual Block Party
Submitted by Batavia MainStreet
Last year, Batavia MainStreet’s River Street for the Block Party was a huge success.
This year, River Street is under construction for the much-anticipated Streetscape project completion, so you can expect entertainment at a new location on the Batavia Riverwalk.
The new downtown hot spot, Aliano’s Ristorante, will be the presenting sponsor of this event.
New this year, River City Church will host a bounce house, face painting, balloons and a raffle to keep children and their parents entertained. Between bounces, make sure you grab a map and stop at each participating restaurant for $2 tastings and drink specials.
“We are thrilled to have so many new groups participating to make this year’s Block Party memorable,” said Joi Cuartero, director of Batavia MainStreet. “And it’s great to be able to try dishes from all the new restaurants.”
Keep your eyes on the Peg Bond Center for shows by local dance legends Batavia Academy of Dance and also downtown Batavia’s newcomer, The Attic Dance Center.
Prairie Gymnastics members will not only perform but demonstrate their flexible moves.
And don’t forget to register for the Bags Tournament hosted by the Rotary Club of Batavia by calling (630) 761-3528.
Everyone can enjoy original and cover songs performed by local bands Priority Mail and Field Day.
The festivities will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2. Following the Block Party, be on the lookout for the downtown establishments that are hosting after parties with more live music and entertainment.
