Hoffman Estates Mariano’s slated to open Aug. 28
A new Mariano’s Fresh Market is scheduled to open in Hoffman Estates in two weeks, a company spokeswoman said Monday.
Vivian King, director of public affairs for Roundy’s Supermarkets Inc., which owns Mariano’s, said in an email that the store will open at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28.
The upscale grocery store — which markets itself as having quality food with competitive prices — will be located in the Hoffman Village Shopping Center at Barrington and Golf roads, in a space left vacant when a Dominick’s store closed.
King said the store will provide jobs for about 450 people and be open seven days a week, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. More details about the grand opening will be available as the date gets closer, she added.
“They’re working at breakneck speed, and they’ve got a lot of stuff in there,” Gary Skoog, director of economic development for Hoffman Estates, said after seeing construction inside the store.
Skoog said the store is hosting a VIP opening on Monday, Aug. 27. Committee meetings scheduled for that night at village hall are being rescheduled to Tuesday, Aug. 28, he said.
Two new businesses — including a Hallmark store and a restaurant whose name he can’t disclose yet — are planning to move into the shopping center as a result of Mariano’s coming to the village, Skoog added.
“We have inquires from other formats to go in there as well, but I think some people are just waiting to see what kind of traffic they generate,” he said. “It’s in a pretty good location there and one you’ve got a critical mass of people coming the rest of the center should start populating pretty soon, I would think.”
