Piccadilly Circus coming to Kane Fairgrounds

Excitement under the big top is at hand when the Piccadilly Circus comes to the Kane County Fairgrounds this week. Shows begin Wednesday, Aug. 15 and run through Sunday, Aug. 19, at 525 S. Randall Road, St. Charles.

This year’s edition of the circus, which has been in operation for 25 years, is called Blast and takes place under a European-style yellow and blue big top.

More than 100 animals are featured. Visitors will see elephants, zebras, and lemurs from Madagascar. The baby animal nursery’s newest additions, Huey and Dewy the baby camels, add to the racing camels to make what organizers say is the largest herd of traveling camels in the world.

Doors open one hour before show time with a Kids Fun Zone that includes elephant and pony rides, a free petting zoo, moon bounce and more.

Showtimes are 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Aug. 15-17; 1:30, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18; and 1, 3:30 and 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19. Shows last 90 minutes. Ticket prices, $8 to $48, vary per show.
