Pet hospital opens in Elk Grove Village

Elk Grove Village is now home to a state-of-the-art, 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital on the west side of town.

BluePearl Veterinary Partners opened at 1050 Bonaventure Drive, north of Devon Avenue and west of Rohlwing Road, on Aug. 3 with plans to offer specialty services in the near future.

The hospital is now accepting patients and will continue to add services not commonly found in veterinary practices. BluePearl hospitals have sophisticated equipment such as endoscopes, which can be used in place of costly surgery if an animal has ingested something it shouldn’t have as long as it is caught early enough.

“We’ve been open less than a week and we’ve already seen emergencies ranging from a dog that ingested rat poison to a collapsed trachea, as well as pancreatitis and liver disease,” said Pete Kacinskas, practice manager of BluePearl in Elk Grove Village. “I like knowing that because we’re here, people have a faster, more convenient way to get their pets help during an emergency, which boils down to saving lives.”

BluePearl also offers equipment found in hospitals catering to people to provide critical diagnostics, such as X-rays, CT-scans, MRIs and sonograms, used to find, treat and eliminate cancer.

BluePearl hospitals are referral-only and don’t provide primary care. BluePearl veterinarians partner with family veterinarians to share clinical information about any medical services provided and make recommended future treatment plans.

BluePearl Veterinary Partners acquired Animal 911 of Skokie, a 24-hour specialty and emergency veterinary hospital, in April. BluePearl also operates a hospital in Northbrook, which offers 24-hour care as well as specialty services in critical care, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, surgery and many other disciplines found in human hospitals.

The practice formed in 2008 employs more than 1,000 people, including roughly 250 veterinarians.
