Boriqua Fest returns to Elgin Aug. 11

The 20th annual Boriqua Fest will be from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, in Festival Park, 132 S. Grove Ave. in downtown Elgin.

The Puerto Rican/Dominican singer and songwriter Freddy Kenton Jr. will perform. In addition to food and games, there also will be salsa, merengue, bachata and reggaeton.

Admission is $2 per person or free for children under age 10. For details on the festival, visit prho.org.

This event draws 3,000 to 5,000 each year. All events held by Puerto Rican Heritage Organization have resulted in Proceeds from these events go to help sponsor the PRHO activities, including community awareness in such areas such as job creation, education scholarships, affordable housing, voter registration drive, youth involvement and Puerto Rican heritage awareness.
