No injuries reported in Lake Zurich fire

Fire and smoke caused damage to a garage at a Kildeer home, officials said.

Lake Zurich fire officials said they were called to the home in the 21000 block of Cambridge Drive about 2 p.m. Wednesday when a residential fire alarm system alerted the fire department.

Upon arrival, no smoke or flames were visible, but a search of the residence detected smoke stains around the home’s attached garage.

Firefighters entered the garage, saw heavy smoke and flames, and upgraded the call to a working structure fire in progress. The fire was under control within 30 minutes, officials said.

No one was at the residence at the time, officials said, and no one was injured in the fire. Three family pets were not injured and were removed from the home.

The fire was contained to the garage, but the home suffered some smoke damage, officials said.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, and the damage amount is unknown at this time.

Due to a lack of water a fire hydrants in the area, firefighters from Wauconda, Barrington, Long Grove, Countryside, Lincolnshire, Buffalo Grove, Fox River Grove, Palatine, Cary, Deerfield, Libertyville, Lake Villa and Mount Prospect were called in to assist Lake Zurich.
