Joliet man gets 50 years for shooting 12-year-old son
A Joliet man has been sentenced to a half-century in prison for shooting his 12-year-old son in the head a few days before Christmas in 2010.
Will County prosecutors said Monday that 37-year-old Roderick Tademy was sentenced to 50 years in prison for attempted murder, aggravated battery to a child and aggravated battery with a firearm.
Officials say the boy was sitting on the couch and playing video games when Tademy shot him in the head with a .22-caliber handgun. The boy survived but is in a long-term care facility and needs a ventilator to breathe.
Tademy argued that he was insane at the time of the shooting.
