Stay true to our Founders’ intentions

A hardy thanks to Hobby Lobby for its Independence Day full page ad. Political correctness aside, it is true that the United States of America was founded as a Christian republic. Thank you, Hobby Lobby, for reminding this nation of its roots.

The design of the First Amendment was not to prohibit the United States from being a Christian nation, rather to prevent the establishment of a state church and giving preference to any Christian denomination: Baptist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, etc. It was understood that we were a Christian nation. No, the majority of our citizens were probably not professed Christians, but the foundations of our law system was based on the teachings of the word of God, the Bible. American people accepted and wanted godly rule even if they personally were not followers of Jesus Christ.

The troubles of our nation today are a direct result of our turning our backs on God. We now accept as valid any point of view that is not Christian. Most of today’s Christian churches have become irrelevant in the political process. It is time for God’s law to be re-established as the foundation for our republic.
