Chicago police arrest suspect in attacks on women
Chicago police say they’ve arrested a man suspected in a string of armed robberies and attacks on at least 10 women over the past month.
Vidal Rainey was ordered held without bond Saturday. The 23-year-old from Cicero was arrested Monday after the armed robbery and attempted sexual assault of a woman in the Logan Square neighborhood.
He’s been identified as the suspect in at least 10 similar attacks on the west and northwest sides. Authorities expect that number could grow as the investigation continues.
The charges against him include multiple counts of armed robbery, attempted aggravated criminal sexual assault and aggravated unlawful restraint.
The judge at Saturday’s bond hearing, Adam Bourgeois Jr., said “everyone in Chicago will sleep better tonight.”
