Yard sale to benefit Elgin treatment center for at-risk youth and adults

The Larkin Center, 1212 Larkin Ave. in Elgin, will hold its 11th annual Community Yard Sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8 and Thursday, Aug. 9.
This fundraiser will benefit the adult program, providing funding for the summer camping trip and other recreational activities.
The center needs your help in passing the word to family and friends; donating items for the yard sale; volunteering some of your time; or shopping for some bargains.

Based in Elgin, this full-service treatment center provides the following:
Ÿ Youth residential for up to 52 youth, age 8 to 18, experiencing emotional and/or behavioral challenges. While the program serves youth across Northern Illinois, referrals are accepted from any geographic region.
Ÿ Adult program for the chronic mentally ill seeking enhanced independent living skills.
Ÿ A therapeutic day school for up to 100 students in first to 12th grade at risk of dropping out of school. The facility serves students from more than 20 school districts in Northern Illinois.
Ÿ Outpatient family counseling for children, teens and their families struggling with mental illness or behavior issues.
