No reason to rejoice in some promotions

Through the years I’ve read the Daily Herald. When I would read about people in public office being promoted or becoming a leader in their field, I would think, good for them, what an achievement. Now the first thing I think of is what is this costing the taxpayers in salaries, perks and pensions? Sad, but a reality.
