Naperville man charged with falsifying robbery report

In the end, Anthony Reyes got the ride home he was looking for.

But he also picked up a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct along the way, authorities said Friday.

Reyes, 21, of the 900 block of Jungles Avenue, was charged with disorderly conduct for filing a false police report after he told Naperville officers he was robbed at knife point June 12 and had his iPad and headphones stolen, Sgt. John Westlove said.

He turned himself into police late Tuesday afternoon, Westlove said, and has since been released on bond.

Westlove said officers were called to North Aurora Road and Fairway Drive about 2:21 p.m. June 12 for a report of a robbery.

Westlove said police and a K-9 unit searched the area, but were unable to locate the robbers.

During the subsequent investigation, Westlove said detectives learned Reyes had made up the story and was simply looking for a ride home from a long day at work.

Bell said Reyes lived about five miles from where he called police.

Reyes remains free on $100 bond. His next court date is Aug. 28.
