Lombard Village President Assists Resident Grad Student Researching Urban Goverment

Taylor, a graduate student at Governors State University, is enrolled in an “Urban Government” course in which she is required to interview the Mayor of a local municipality. “Since I recently moved to Lombard, I decided to interview President Mueller,” she said, “so I could fulfill my course requirement and learn about my community as well,” Taylor added.

Her project consisted of a case study of a local municipality in which she had to research how government functioned in relation to the state and other municipal government agencies. “I am looking at inter- and intra-governmental relations,” Taylor stated.

Taylor commented that she did not realize Lombard offered a Citizen Police Academy (CPA) and CPA Alumni Association. This was of interest to her for a number of reasons. Taylor has completed a similar course in both Naperville and Normal, Illinois and she also has experience in law enforcement. She is currently employed as a Trooper with the Illinois State Police (since 2008) and received her Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Illinois State University.

“President Mueller seems very involved in the Village of Lombard,” Taylor commented. “He is very open and willing to share information about the Village,” she added.

Taylor, who also serves in the U.S. Navy Reserves, is working on her graduate degree in Public Administration. She hopes to finish her degree and pursue a career in management within state government.
