Geneva Park District to host skateboard contest

The Geneva Park District will host a skateboard contest starting at noon Sunday, Aug. 12, at the Skate Park, 1800 South St. in Geneva.

There are two skill divisions in the competition: beginner and advanced. A new category has been added this year: Best Trick Category. Judging and emcee will be provided by SMLTWN SK8 Shop in DeKalb.

All participants must provide and wear their own safety equipment. Participants younger than 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place in each division.

Cost is $15 for preregistration or $20 for day-of registration. On-site registration will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on the day of the contest.
