More fences, better security for Lollapalooza

More fences and increased security will be in place for the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago's Grant Park in an effort to avoid landscape damage and prevent gate-crashing.

Grant Park Conservancy President Bob O'Neill says bushes and flower gardens will be fenced off, forcing festival patrons onto streets that can “take a lot of impact.”

Last year, heavy rains and huge crowds combined to cause damage that took months to repair. Lollapalooza's organizers paid about $1 million to install new and tougher turf.

O'Neill says, due to the record drought, he's confident last year's damage will be avoided.

A schedule of more than 120 bands is expected to attract about 300,000 people. The music fest runs Aug. 3-5.
