Lombard's Second Annual “National Night Out” Set for August 7

LOMBARD, Illinois—Building on the success of the first year, the Village of Lombard will be participating in its second annual “National Night Out” (NNO) campaign on Tuesday, August 7.

NNO is a community outreach effort to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships focusing on safety. Now in its 29th year, NNO has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to do just that.

The Lombard Police Department, in cooperation with the Lombard Fire Department, Lombard Park District, Tri-Town YMCA, Lombard Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association and Target Corporation, will host the NNO at Lombard Common and Paradise Bay Water Park from 5-9 p.m. During that time, the following activities will be available for attendees:

• FREE swimming at Paradise Bay Water Park, 7-9 p.m. (up to capacity.)

• DJ Rudy The “K” music and contests.

• FREE giveaways and light refreshments.

• Lombard Police K-9 Unit.

• Lombard SWAT team display.

• Lombard Police Traffic-Safety Unit.

• Kids—Make your own Fire Department button.

• Adults—Request a free in-home fire safety survey from the Lombard Fire

Department.

• Additional police, fire and public safety displays, including hands on demonstrations of the Lombard Fire Safety Trailer at 6:30 p.m., 7:15 p.m. and 8 p.m.

• Smoke detectors, compliments of State Farm (for those who do not have them) while supplies last.

• FREE drawing for a Wi System, donated by Target Corporation.

The NNO program is designed to heighten crime, drug and tobacco prevention awareness; generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs and sends a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

“Last year was the first year Lombard participated in this program,” said Sergeant Will Mitchell of the Lombard Police Department. “We are looking forward to an even bigger and better partnership between the community and the Village this year,” he added.
