First Lady cancels Indy campaign fundraising stop

INDIANAPOLIS — First Lady Michelle Obama has canceled her weekend campaign fundraiser in Indianapolis following Friday's deadly shooting rampage at a Colorado movie theater.

The first lady was scheduled to appear Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium for a fundraiser supporting her husband's re-election campaign.

But Michelle Obama's press secretary, Olivia Alair, said in an email to The Indianapolis Star (http://indy.st/SN9VEF ) that Sunday's event was canceled "in light of the tragedy in Colorado" in which a gunman killed 12 people and wounded dozens more in a suburban Denver theater.

The first lady's last stop in Indianapolis was during the 2008 presidential election.
