Village of Lombard Fire Department To Bolster Fire Prevention Efforts With FM

FM Global representative James Timmerman presented the award to Lombard Interim Fire Chief Jerry Howell at Lombard Fire Station 1 this morning. The award will be used to assist with fire prevention activities in the community to help educate the community and reduce the number of fires.

“Your grant application for an FM Global fire prevention grant stood out among hundreds we received,” said Michael Spaziani, Manager, Fire Service Programs for FM Global. The grant will be used to purchase a multimedia projector and laptop computer for use in fire prevention.

“We strongly support your efforts,” said Timmerman. In 2010, Timmerman noted that FM Global distributed $400,000 in grants, with an average award of $2,500. He encouraged Lombard to reapply in the future, as fire departments are available for the grant every three years.

Because fire continues to be the leading cause of property damage worldwide, during the past 35 years FM Global has contributed millions of dollars in fire prevention grants to fire service organizations.
