Learn about sustainable gardening at Elgin museum

Submitted by Elgin Public Museum

The Elgin Public Museum is hosting an Elgin Alive series event for Elgin Community Network from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, at the museum, 225 Grand Blvd. in Lords Park on Elgin’s east side.

Come to the Elgin Public Museum after hours to dive into sustainable gardening. Tour the 1907 museum building and learn about the exhibits and stories behind them.

The featured exhibit is “Green Scale: Weighing in on the Green Movement,” which examines the successes, shortcomings and impact of the green movement on the global village.

Check out the new hydroponic garden and plant your own herb seed in the hydroponic garden that you can come back to visit. Then tour the savanna, medicinal and Three Sisters gardens outside the museum.

This exhibition was created by students of the Graduate Museum Studies Program at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. The sponsor for the exhibition is the Elgin Climate Change Organization.
