Disabled artists featured at Buffalo Grove art festival

The village of Buffalo Grove will be hosting the 11th annual Buffalo Grove Invitational Fine Art Festival on July 21 and 22. The festival will kick off with a special performance by the Buffalo Grove Jazz Band at 7 p.m. Friday, July 20, at the Rotary Village Green.

The village is proud to partner with well-known Amy Amdur and her team at Amdur Productions in the coordination of the festival. The festival will be from 10 a.m.to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. More than 140 professional artists from around the world will be on hand displaying and selling their artwork. All media including painting, sculpture, wood, ceramics, photography, jewelry, glass, fine crafts, and others will be featured and available for sale.

The festival will also include Unique Expressions — a showcase of artists with disabilities on Saturday, and the Youth Art Division on Sunday, whereby youth artists will display and sell their work. Artwork includes painting, duct tape art, jewelry, origami and more.

The Special Gifts Theater will provide a special performance at 10 a.m. on Saturday, on the main stage. Special Gifts Theatre is a nonprofit organization that offers creative drama programs for individuals with disabilities. Entertainment throughout the weekend will include Cirrus Falcon, Don Thomas playing soft rock music and Michelet Innocence, a French singer and guitarist.

The Family Art Tent offers a place for the entire family to engage in the process of creating art. This activity is free thanks to Family Art Tent sponsor, Sanders Court Pediatrics.

The Golf Cart shuttle is available to anyone in need of transport, to and from the parking lot to the festival area, thanks to sponsor Arthur J. Rogers & Co. Additional handicap parking is available near Giordano’s.

The art festival is free and open to the public. The festival will be from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, July 21, and Sunday, July 22, at the Buffalo Grove Town Center located at the intersection of Lake-Cook Road and Route 83.
