Palatine Township Kicks Off Apple Tree Campaign

Palatine Township is pleased to announce the kick-off of its annual back to school program, the “Apple Tree Campaign” is now in its 24th year. This award-winning program, sponsored and coordinated by Palatine Township, collects and distributes new backpacks and school supplies to under-resourced children in our community. Items needed include: backpacks, binders, markers, spiral notebooks, colored pencils, crayons, pocket folders, scissors, Kleenex, (a complete list of items is available at www.palatinetownship.com). Monetary donations are also accepted and greatly appreciated; they allow the township to purchase items that are lacking. Checks should be made payable to the “Palatine Township Apple Tree Campaign”.

Social workers from local schools identify and refer children that cannot afford to purchase the supplies needed to return to school in August. The program includes economically disadvantaged children kindergarten through high school. Over 1,200 children applied for assistance this year!

Donations can be dropped off now through August 3, during regular business hours, at Palatine Township, 721 S. Quentin Road; Palatine Village Hall, 200 E. Wood Street; Community Consolidated School District 15 Offices, 580 First Bank Drive; Palatine Library, 700 N. Court Drive; Palatine Park District, 250 E.
