Lavelle Law Welcomes New Attorney
Palatine based Lavelle Law, Ltd. has announced the hiring of Carrie Harrington to the firm. Harrington received her J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law in May of this year. Originally from Western Springs, Harrington will focus primarily on the Estate Planning Practice Group at Lavelle Law.
Harrington, who holds a B.S. in Biology and Spanish from the University of Michigan, becomes the fifteenth member of the firm. With her fluency in speaking and writing Spanish, it is expected that Harrington will allow the firm to better provide services to the growing Spanish-speaking population in the area.
“We're very excited about this addition to the firm,” said Theodore McGinn, a partner at Lavelle Law. “Carrie is well versed in estate planning and her second language skills will greatly enhance our practice.” Harrington clerked with Cole & Vondra, LLP in Iowa City, Iowa and served as a Research Assistant to Professor John Allen at the University of Iowa. Throughout her college and law school years, she also clerked for the City of Chicago Department of Law, served an internship in the Trust Department at Harris Bank, and spent time abroad where she was an English Language and Cultural Assistant in La Linea, Spain.
“Along with our Taxation practice, Estate Planning has always represented a significant portion of our practice at Lavelle Law,” said McGinn. “We have established an outstanding practice group in that area and we anticipate Carrie making a significant contribution in the future.”
“I look forward to being a part of such an established firm,” said Harrington. “Having grown from a single attorney practice to its current size speaks volumes about the quality of work done by the partners, associates, and support staff at Lavelle Law. I was also very impressed with their deep commitment to community service and it will be a pleasure to become an active participant in all that they do throughout the area.”
Earlier this year Lavelle Law, Ltd was awarded an Annual Award for Business Excellence, and last month received the Al Knox Award for Corporate Ethics. The firm recently updated its website (www.lavellelaw.com) to provide extensive legal information and resources, including access to hundreds of free podcasts the firm has produced for its Chicago's Legal Latte series. Lavelle Law was founded by attorney Kerry Lavelle in 1989.
