Increase enforcement of traffic laws

I am confused as to why our state or local police do not enforce traffic laws.

On 294, there are a few miles of construction zones where signs warn of $375 fines or double for speeding over 45 mph, no cellphone, texting etc. Wow! I was driving 45 mph, in my semi, and you’d think I was on a skateboard.

People were passing me doing at least 60 mph, talking on their phones and or texting away. No police in sight.

On Rt. 62, where they are widening the road, a billboard notes: No cellphone or texting. Tickets of $375. Guess what. Everyone you see is on a phone or texting. Again, no police in sight.

I have yet to be at an intersection where someone isn’t on the phone, texting, reading a memo or newspaper, missing the light(s). No police in sight.

The other day, I saw a local policeman, sitting at a green light — texting on his personal phone, Over the weekend while on my motorcycle in Belvedere, while sitting at a red light, I was scared to notice a young girl coming up behind me totally engrossed in her texting and not aware of the red light nor of me on my motorcycle. I frantically waved my hands and pressed the brakes. She finally came out of her daze and slammed on her brakes. When the light changed, she, of course sat there texting away, finally realized she could go and continued to text!

State and local departments must enforce the law, not only to protect other drivers from those engrossed in whatever they are doing, besides driving, but to Increase revenue! All they need to do is have an officer at a few intersections, on foot. They could clean up. Not to mention possibly save a life or two.
