Energetic ‘Joseph’ now onstage at St. James

Do you enjoy watching energetic singing and dancing? Are you a fan of bright colors and fantastic sets? And most importantly — do you enjoy a good show? If you answered yes, then come out to see St. James Community Theatre’s 43rd musical, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” a dazzling show with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice.

“Joseph” is the revamped tale of Jacob, his favorite son, Joseph, and Joseph’s 11 jealous brothers. Joseph is a young, charming and good-looking young man who has an uncanny gift of being able to interpret other people’s dreams. “Go Go Go Joseph,” “Close Every Door” and “Any Dream Will Do” are just some of the many well-known musical numbers in this fast-moving, fun show suitable for the whole family.

The show has opened, but plenty of performances are still coming up: 7:30 p.m. July 19, 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28; a 1 p.m. Saturday matinee July 21 and 28; and a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee July 22. All performances will be held at the St. James Parish Center, 820 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights.

Purchase tickets anytime between now and closing night, from the St. James website, www.stjamestheatre.org or at the door. Tickets are $10 and $15 in advance; add $2 if bought the night of the show.

This production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” is directed by Kristy Warren. Music direction is by Marcie Lynn Selvaggio Mattis and choreography is by Marina Sterner.

This show is double cast. Cast 1 includes Amy Keipert as the Narrator, Franco Longobardi as Joseph and Case Carvell as the Pharaoh. Cast 2 has Meghan Warren as the Narrator, Nicky Mendelsohn as Joseph, and Jack Saflarski as the Pharaoh.

All performances feature Don Nowakowski as Jacob and Mike Speedy, Jack Saflarski, Case Carvell, Tim Dowling, Brian Eiffes, Joe Farrell, Matthew Bonadona, Derek Brumby, Jimmy Mendelsohn, John Desai and Patrick Pfohl as the Brothers.
