One killed in crash near Huntley

One person died early Saturday following a one-car accident on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway near Huntley, police said.

Killed in the crash was Nihad Velic, 30, of Chicago.

A second person was injured, Illinois State Police said.

The accident happened about 4:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes, police said. The driver lost control after the car got a flat tire, and the vehicle headed into a roadside ditch, police said.

The car flipped, throwing the victims from the vehicle. Police didn’t know who was driving.

Both victims were taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin. No information was available about the survivor.
