Aurora, Kane officers ask you to tip your servers for Special Olympics
Submitted by city of Aurora
On Monday, July 9, several Aurora police officers and Kane County Sheriff deputies will be trading their badges for aprons when they stage “Tip-A-Cop” to raise money for Special Olympics Illinois.
From 5-9 p.m., the officers and deputies will be waiting tables at Buffalo Wild Wings, 1460 N. Orchard Road, Aurora, collecting money for Special Olympics.
Not only will they donate the tips they receive to the organization, but Buffalo Wild Wings also will donate 10 percent of all food purchases to the cause from 11 a.m. until midnight. In order for the 10 percent donation to apply, patrons should tell their servers that they are there for the Special Olympics fundraising.
The event is one of several being organized by Aurora police this year as the department continues its tradition of supporting Special Olympics. Aurora police officers and support personnel have raised just under $11,000 so far this year after raising more than $15,000 last year.
Special Olympics Illinois provides year-round training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
