Blue Whiskey film fest returns to Palatine
The competition at the third annual Blue Whiskey Independent Film Festival is shaping up to be intense.
Organizers of the festival, which runs Tuesday, July 24, to Sunday, July 29, in Palatine, said there were twice as many film submissions to review as last year.
After a challenging selection process, festival programmers chose about 30 short- and feature-length films including “Red Balls,” a dodgeball mockumentary produced in Chicago, and “Parrot,” a short film all the way from Australia.
The festival will be held at the Palatine Park District's Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 E. Wood St.
The popular event kicks off with a free opening night, which includes a presentation of this year's music video selections and a concert by Chicago's own Band Called Catch.
Audience screenings will be held each of the next four evenings, followed by an awards brunch Sunday at Emmett's Brewing Co.
Blue Whiskey's mission is to present the Chicago area with riveting and creative independent films from around the world that have a strong, powerful story.
