Round Lake Park man charged with selling cocaine to officers
A Round Lake Park man is behind bars after selling crack cocaine to an undercover Lake County Sheriff detective, authorities said Tuesday.
Rafael Russell, 24, was arrested about 8 p.m. Monday after he sold about $280 worth of crack to a detective, Lake County Sheriff’s Office Chief Wayne Hunter said.
The arrest was part of a two-week special investigation into a crack distribution ring that ran from Round Lake Beach to Waukegan, Hunter said.
Russell has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and two counts of delivery of a controlled substance. If convicted, he could face up to 30 years behind bars, authorities said.
Russell’s bond information was unavailable early Tuesday morning.
