District 79 extends superintendent’s contract

The contract for Jill Gildea, superintendent of Fremont School District 79, was extended by five years following unanimous school board approval in June.

The contract began July 1. Gildea is finishing her second year as superintendent of Fremont School District 79.

“The board is extremely pleased with Dr. Gildea’s work. Our district is headed in the right direction with Dr. Gildea as its leader,” said Sandra Bickley, board president.

Of her contract approval, Gildea said, “It is an honor and privilege to serve Fremont as its superintendent. One of the primary strengths of Fremont is its staff and students. The people make the district the phenomenal place that it is.”

In the fall, the school board commissioned its administration to develop a Strategic Plan. The plan was the outcome of information provided by staff and parent focus groups, survey and achievement data.

The board revisited its mission and articulated its vision of providing an exemplary education focused on whole child development, collaboration, and fiscal responsibility.

Gildea believes the outcome of the strategic plan will result in the following:

Ÿ Working together to yield a safe, student-centered and future-focused learning organization.

Ÿ Collaborating to create a seamless preschool through eighth-grade educational experience for the benefit of each learner.
