Lombard Fire conducts well-being checks on seniors

LOMBARD, Illinois—Lombard firefighters made “house calls” today, conducting well-being checks on senior citizens throughout the Village.

In an effort to check on the safety and well-being of Lombard seniors, Lombard firefighters from both fire stations set out to check on seniors in the community.

“At this time of extreme temperatures and with many residents still without electricity, we want to ensure that our senior population is safe and well,” said Jeff Holst, Lombard's Interim Fire Chief. “Without electricity, there are no working elevators in multi-family buildings so some seniors may not be able to get out if necessary,” Holst added.

Lombard Village President William “Bill” Mueller is asking that the outreach by the Lombard Fire Department to check on seniors serve as an example to others in the community. “We are very fortunate to have neighbors helping neighbors and it's times like this that we appreciate when the community really comes together to help each other out,” Mueller added.
