Shots and physicals for school:
Early summer is an ideal time to get required physicals and shots for school-aged children, as health care providers’ schedules are often full by August. This year 6th and 9th graders are required to have the Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) vaccine to enroll in school. Walk-in clinics for shots, physicals and ill children are available at the Lake County Health Department’s North Chicago Community Health Center, 2215 14th St., from 7:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. The first 12 patients will be seen. No appointment is necessary. Appointments also can be scheduled at one of the Health Department’s six community health centers in Waukegan, North Chicago, Zion, Highland Park, and Round Lake Beach. Bring insurance information and shot records. For information, or to schedule appointments, call (847) 984-5200.
