Rolling Meadows historical museum celebrates 10 years

The Rolling Meadows Historical Museum will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this weekend with free ice cream and other giveaways.

The museum, 3100 Central Road in Rolling Meadows, is marking a decade since opening with a celebration from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 1.

Culver’s Ice Cream is donating ice cream and the museum will be serving other refreshments.

The museum, also known as the 1950s house and the Kimball Hill Family Educational Center, was built as a replica of the first ranch-style homes constructed by Rolling Meadows founder Kimball Hill in 1953. Displays of donated historical documents, photos and finishings are combined to create authentic interior spaces within the home.

The exhibit also includes information about the early days of the City of Rolling Meadows and other 1950s memorabilia.
