Man arrested for attempted robbery of two customers at Waukegan Burger King drive-through
A 33-year-old Waukegan man has been arrested after he allegedly used a knife to try to rob two victims in a Burker King drive-through, police said Thursday.
Bobby G. Dodd III, of the 2800 block of Pine Street, remains in Lake County jail after being charged with attempted armed robbery and burglary to a motor vehicle in the June 19 attack, Waukegan Police Cmdr. Gabe Guzman said.
The victims were in the drive-through of the restaurant in the 2100 block of Lewis Drive at 12:25 a.m. when Dodd approached the window with the knife and attempted to rob them, Guzman said.
The victims told police he reached into their vehicle with the knife, but they were able to escape and call police. The offender fled the area and one victim suffered an injury to the neck, Guzman said.
Detectives followed up and learned Dodd was a possible suspect. Dodd was questioned and admitted his involvement Wednesday, Guzman said.
Bond and future court dates were unknown Thursday afternoon, Guzman said.
“I commend the detective who worked on this case,” said Waukegan Police Chief Daniel Greathouse. “His tenacious work lead to the arrest of a dangerous criminal.”
