Protecting, rather than seeking justice

Protecting, rather than seeking justice

Eugene Robinson’s column on “Fast and Furious” ignores the real problem while going off on a political tangent. Does he forget? People were murdered — both Mexican and American.

Does Robinson discount the Mexicans lives lost? As noted on one website, “Those weapons were connected to the murders of more than 300 Mexican civilians and the murder of one and possibly a second border patrol agent.” Laws were broken. The sovereignty of our neighbor, Mexico, was violated. And, there was a hypocritical expectation of new concerns for gun control.

The guilty here are the very ones expected to enforce our laws. As such, they should most especially be held accountable. Yet, there is more effort to protect them than to seek justice.

As a final thought — in our U.S. Attorney General, Eric Holder, we have a man that recommended the pardon of the biggest tax cheat in American history, Marc Rich. His failure to hold people accountable continues.
