Libertyville agrees to public works contract

Libertyville village officials have reached a four-year agreement with public works employees that includes modest raises. The village board Tuesday ratified the first labor contract with Local 150 of the International Union of Operating Engineers, which represents about 16 public works maintenance technicians, equipment mechanics and water operators. The contract is retroactive to May 1 and runs through April 30, 2016. Raises are 1 percent for the first year, 2 percent next year and 1.5 percent the last two years. Union members will join the union insurance plan at no cost to the village and have eliminated the sick leave buy back plan at retirement for employees hired after June 1.
