St. Charles Noon Kiwanis Club exceeds goal in ‘Rose Day’ fundraiser

St. Charles Noon Kiwanis Club’s recent annual “Rose Day” culminated at Baker Community Center in St. Charles. This is one of the club’s major fundraisers of the year.

Co-chaired by Diana Brown and Anisa Ali, the club once again exceeded its goal of 1,200 dozen roses ordered. The purpose of getting all those orders is to raise money to serve local children’s agencies.

This year, Kiwanians served a twofold purpose with some of their orders. If the purchaser didn’t need roses for themselves or someone they knew, they were able to purchase a dozen roses to be donated to the local senior citizens center, Carroll Tower. Kiwanian Jean Blake coordinated young students to deliver the roses to the seniors.

St. Charles Kiwanis, while always focusing on children, discovered a twofold purpose for fundraising a few years ago when they began taking orders for boxes of Kiwanis peanuts to be sent to American troops serving overseas through Fox Valley Troop Support.

Co-chairwomen Diana Brown and Anise Ali, along with club President John Radman, were grateful to Kevin Madden for his accounting expertise, Sally Murphy for her coordination of the Rose Day teams, and for all of the community who have supported Kiwanis’ purpose of serving and changing the world one child and one community at a time.

Kiwanis is an organization of service- and community-minded individuals who support children and young adults around the world. One of the top priorities for the St. Charles Kiwanis Club is “Young Children: Priority One.” This initiative places continuing focus on serving the needs of children in the Fox Valley.
