Pitching matchups: The Cubs’ Travis Wood (1-3) vs. Johan Santana (5-3) Monday at 7:05 p.m.; Randy Wells (1-2) vs. Dillion Gee (5-5) Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.; Jeff Samardzija (5-6) vs. Jonathan Niese (5-3) Wednesday at 1:20 p.m.

At a glance: The Mets (39-33) entered Sunday night’s game with the Yankees second in the NL East. David Wright had a hitting line of .357/.452/.566 to go with 8 homers and 41 RBI. Lucas Duda led the team in homers (11) and RBI (42). The Cubs will face a pair of lefties: Santana and Niese, but they still may call up left-handed hitting first-base phenom Anthony Rizzo.
