Hawthorn Woods farmers market

Hawthorn Woods’ second annual farmers market debuted without a farmer this year, but parks and recreation representatives said they’ve found a replacement. Harms Farm will take the place of last year’s farmer, Churchill Orchards. Churchill Orchards couldn’t participate in this year’s market because of lost crops due to frost. Recreation Director Kelly Carlson said Harms Farm will be a good addition to the market and she anticipates a good relationship. Carlson has visited the produce vendor at Wauconda’s farmers market. Other new vendors for this year include: Apple Holler, The Country Kettle Corn, Atrium Garden Center, Slap Yo’ Mama Salsa, Organo Gold, and Brain Freeze Ice Cream. Hawthorn Woods’ farmers market is Fridays through Oct. 5 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Community Park, 42 Park View Lane. Visit www.vhw.org for more information.
