Buffalo Grove hosts car seat safety events

Officers from the Buffalo Grove Police Department’s Traffic Unit will be hosting a car seat installation class in the department’s training room at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 27.

Certified car seat technicians will be present to give a short training session on how to properly install car seats and will be available to answer any questions. There will be a demonstrator seat available for people to have some hands-on training with various safety seats.

“We’ve done this class in the past and received some great feedback. It’s a great way for us to make sure our residents all have their car seats properly installed, and to help answer any questions people may have about their car seats,” said Sgt. Mike Rodriguez. “We also will be able to explain occupant protection laws relating to child passenger safety seats, and provide our own tips on the proper installation of these seats.”

From 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, the department will be conducting a free child seat check. This seat check will be conducted in the parking lot at the Buffalo Grove Public Works facility, at 51 Raupp Boulevard — just across the street from the police department.
