Lost your way? Ask God for directions
“Let us approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
— Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)
A petite, older woman confidently asked, “I’m late for a luncheon and wondered if you could give me directions?”
It was evident by her attire that she was going to a special event. Happily I knew where the restaurant she named was located. She was already headed in the right direction, so I gave her final details on how to reach it.
I was impressed that the woman was bold enough to ask for directions. Many people would prefer to wander aimlessly, rather than stop and ask someone for directions.
Reluctance to ask for directions is human nature!
We’re stubborn. We don’t want to admit we’ve lost our way. Other times, we’re too timid to approach someone for help.
When we need directions, God wants us to approach him confidently in prayer. He’s never too busy running the world to listen to our requests.
God delights in giving us direction and answering our requests. Prayer is a significant component of a powerful life — great things can be accomplished when accompanied by confident prayer!
